ARK CLS develops geoscience software for multiple platforms such as Petrel and OpendTect including software for seismic processing and enhancement, potential field studies, and petrophysical well log studies. We employ a combination of geoscientists and software engineers.

The Job

The application software developer will be involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle. This is a varied role in a geoscience environment and will include designing, coding, testing, bug fixing, customer support, documentation and release management.

The role requires

A passion for problem solving
Acquiring competence in the ARK CLS software and gaining an understanding of the mathematical, physical and geophysical basis of the technologies
Supporting clients and contributing new ideas
Participation in analysing, planning, designing and developing new products
Working in an Agile environment
Being a good communicator and able to write clear operational documentation
Ability to work on your own initiative

Person specification

Any discipline but most suited to a candidate with a scientific or computing background.

Must have
Object oriented C++ experience

Good to have
C# experience
MatLab
Experience in developing software under Qt
Geoscience techniques as used in the Oil and Gas industry
Application development on Linux and/or Windows
Working in an agile environment

Salary offered is between £ 25,000 – £ 35,000 dependent on skills and experience.
